I am an artist/designer primarily concerned with the interaction between people and future/emerging technologies.

I believe interaction design is much larger than digital media. If print media is about communication then interaction design is about conversation. It is both simple and complex; micro and macro, a big picture made up of many smaller pictures. It is at once framed by technology but not exclusively determined by it.

My fine art background has enabled me to see that art and design are symbiotic. In order to be truly cutting edge, referencing the more 'traditional' forms of art and communication is essential. Therefore, a holistic approach that puts design in the larger context is essential in interaction design. So that we are not just designing future products and systems but also where, how, when and why they could be used.

In order to deal with the complex and messy design issues surrounding technological change and human behaviour we have to accpet that we cant know it all. We have to constantly step into uncharted ground just to see whats there. It's difficult, there are no straight answers and we'll fail a lot...but I like it.

"You have to feel comfortable never knowing enough and never feeling completely comfortable in every subject, but somehow being the nexus point where all of knowledge areas relate to each other and develop."
