Monogaman

Scientists have successfully performed genetic experiments on montane voles, swapping certain genetic material with their cousin the prairie vole, in order to make them more monogamous. So if we can make the monogamouse, could we also make the monogaman. If so, what does this mean for the future of love and commitment and men.

Love, Only Better?

Attraction, love and commitment are all affected by chemical and hormonal balances in the body. As we gain further insight and understanding into how we function, not just on a social level but also on a parallel biological level, will we also gain more control?

Radio

In this project I explore the use of water as a means of interaction with radio. I try to utilise the qualities of water to create a beautiful experience that teeters on the edge of chaos and control. This work is still at an experimental stage.

BMW - a mini adventure

Working in a small group of three, as part of a project with BMW, we designed a series of ideas that explored Mininess. We focused on three areas:
1. Mini behind the mask - the real mini owner.
2. Mini and its environment - Minis as the nomad.
3. MiniWeb - A connection between all Minis and their owners.

Nanotopia - utopia or dystopia?

The era of nanotechnology has already begun with L'Oreal (the cosmetic company) already holding the most patents for nano products. This project looks at the future of materials that are combined with drugs. I examine how, if clothes change their properties, our relationship to what we wear might also change.

Smart Street

This was a group research project in collaboration with Intel and their People And Practices Research group (PAPR). We used design as a means to speculate on possile futures for a particular section of Gloucester Road. Inspired by the ethno-fiction of Jean Rouch we used creative interventions to collaborate with the street and its inhabitants in order to generate future scenarios.

Placebo: A complicated Pleasure

What if you love something that you have a phobia about? How do you deal with this love/hate relationship. Through the use of props and film I explore how electronic products might mediate this complex issue.

Victimless meat? Design for Debate

Currently, Scientists are researching ways to grow meat in a laboratory. This is called InVitro cultured meat. In this project I explore the possibilities of how producers and consumers of traditional meat will react when this type of meat becomes the norm.

RCA Interaction Design Application

The aim of this project was to get an interview on the Interaction Design MA course at the RCA. Using an WW2 ammunition box, an old mobile phone and some disused machinery switches I constructed a portfolio that would remotely enable me to catch the tutors in a surprise conversation.
