Service Communities

Challenge: Most services cross departmental boundaries but they are not designed end-to-end with this in mind and often fail to meet the needs of users as a consequence. .


Approach: Set up a small team within Government Digital Service to test different models that transform the way government departments collaboratively design and deliver services.

Initiated two Service Communities including 'Start a Business' which brought together over 60 people  from across 9 government departments. We ran regular working sessions to understand  map the end-to-end journey and identify opportunities to make improvements. 

Worked closely with the Step by Step Journeys team at GDS

The work of Service Communities continues with over 236 members from more than 15 organisations across 4 communities.
